Crystals – They’re Just Rocks

What’s the Myth?

There are a number of people mostly on the internet who purport to sell healing crystals. The sales pitch is the placing the magic crystals in various places around or on you releases some magic energy that can cure all types of illness and injury. The pseudoscience say the magical auras, vibrations, and frequencies have the power to heal.

Different crystals are also thought to possess different levels of energy, and produce different effects.

What are Crystals?

Crystals are a naturally occurring substance, the study of which is called crystallography. The process of crystal formation via mechanisms of crystal growth is called crystallization or solidification. The word crystal is derived from the Ancient Greek word κρύσταλλος (krustallos), meaning both “ice” and “rock crystal”, from κρύος (kruos), “icy cold, frost”. Minerals occur naturally as crystals, every crystal has an orderly internal pattern of atoms with a distinctive way of attaching new atoms into that pattern, the pattern then repeats over and over. The shape of the resulting crystal mirrors the internal arrangement of the atoms. As crystals grow differences in temperature and chemical composition cause variations which gives you all the shapes and colours shown in the pictures.

The truth.

Well this doesn’t actually take much debunking. There is no scientific evidence that crystals do anything…at all, the effect is entirely a placebo. This whole industry is there to sell you an inanimate object and with a little psychological priming you feel better coincidentally to the pretty rock you just paid for. Don’t believe us it’s a simple equation put a fancy stone in your pocket…result your pants are heavier, don’t waste your hard earned money. If you’re ill seek medical attention from a doctor with a doctorate…
